Good Morning my lovely reader,
What a treat May has been so far, endless hours of sunshine, warmth kissing the skin as we step outside in the morning and an evening glow that sets the rhythm for the feeling of summer.
I have a serious love affair with summer.
It’s a part of the year that feels romantic, yet childlike.
I feel feminine with floaty linen fabrics, soft florals and nostalgic wicker.
The art of being in the garden. Barefoot in the grass, muddy knees weeding the flower beds. It feels reminiscent of my younger years.
Waking up with the sun to the unfolding of a day filled with opportunity. Early morning dog walks before the world wakes up. Midweek dinners alfresco. Simply sitting and watching nature unfold in our surroundings.
It brings with it a sense of peace.
Anyway, here are my noteworthy moments from this week:
FROM MY MIND
The art of May personified in a mood board.

THINGS I’M WATCHING, READING & LISTENING TO
My bestfriend recommended me Frieda McFadden - The Tenant; it arrived this week and I honestly finished it in one evening. 10/10 recommend - such a good on the edge of your seat read!
I have now just started another Anthony Horowitz book, Sentenced To Death . I’m only a few pages in so I will report back next week.
PURCHASING
I ordered this skirt for spring / summer outfits. The perfect pairing to simple fine knit t-shirts like this one or even a beautiful white waistcoat.
I have been on the hunt for a suede pair of espadrilles for the new season and these have ticked all my boxes.
THE BEAUTY CABINET
I’ve been finding a new routine with my hair. Trying to only wash it twice a week and give myself a proper pin curl blow dry to last until the next wash (in a hope to use a lot less heat). I’m absolutely loving this heat protect spray - it really keeps my curls in place and still leaves my hair really silky.
ON MY PLATE
Strawberry & coconut crumble - the perfect summer dessert.
These Isle of Wight Tomatos are a weekly staple on our food shop. Delicious, packed full of flavour and pair with everything we eat.
We planted tons of salad in our raised beds; butterhead and iceburg lettuce, rocket and spinach too. Now the weather has warmed up we have a huge supply that has made up all of our meals. As well as gifting to neighbours each week too! I’m so excited for the tomatoes this summer. If you are starting your own veg beds or want to start growing something I really recommend lettuce - it’s a cut and come again which means you have an endless supply all season long.
THINGS I’M DOING, LOVING & ENJOYING
Spending my afternoons working in the garden. Sat in the vegetable garden, under the parasol with an icy cold water with cucumber slices. Perfection.
We have a large amount of hydrangeas in our garden (26 to be precise), and last year our Annabelles got a bit of a battering in the summer rain. The large flower heads are susceptible to becoming heavy, flopping and subsequently snapping! This year we have put in individual supports on each plant to, fingers crossed, allow them to stand straight and survive the season!
Thank you for reading this weeks entry, L x

All of Frieda’s books are the absolute best!! Haven’t read the tenant yet (young baby at home and struggling with reading since it requires 2 hands) but it’s high on my list!
