Weekly Notes
Things I've been wearing, eating, watching and more this week...
Good Morning my lovely reader.
Firstly, apologies this entry didn’t go out this morning. Usually I write my entries on a Sunday but with Mother’s Day and hosting my family the day ran away with me.
Today has been a beautiful sunny, and dare I say it warm, Monday in Spring. What a time to be alive!
This weekend was what I had been dreaming about through the dark winter months. Early morning walks round the garden with my boys, a trip to the garden centre, pottering around in the flower beds and the vegetable garden, making delicious food and even eating outside with my family on Sunday! Jack and I sat outside in the vegetable garden until 9pm after my family left, chatting about future plans and we couldn’t stop saying how amazing it felt to be outside rather than on the sofa!
This week ahead is a very lovely one, I am celebrating my birthday on Saturday and having a glorious long weekend at home with my favourite people. I have been prepping the food delivery, snacks and canapés for a ‘Rosé In The Garden’ soireé (lots of accents here). But also I have finally done my seasonal wardrobe switchover, unpacked all my beautiful summer dresses, washed and ironed everything so it is ready for the next 6 months ahead. Coats and heavy knitwear has been packed away and I couldn’t be more excited to be dressed in linen and florals!
Anyway, let’s catch up on bits and bobs from this week.
FROM MY MIND
I have found my favourite supermarket flowers, the M&S pale pink roses. They are just beautiful!
After planting hundreds of summer flowering bulbs this weekend (dahlias and lillies) it’s became clear to me that when you put in the hard work you really can reap the rewards. Gardening is all about the preparation!
This dry shampoo is incredible to add texture and hold to your hair.
There is no better feeling than the first days of warmth. Being able to sit outside to work on my laptop in a linen shirt is just heavenly.
This year is all about adding personality into our home. After two years of renovating and giving myself quite a blank canvas I feel like it’s time for prints, colour and fabrics!
LISTENING, READING & WATCHING
I’ve just picked up this book to start reading this week - will update you on what I think!
I watched Adolescence on Netflix last week as soon as I finished I scoured apple podcasts to listen to people’s perceptions of the harrowing 4 part drama. The controversial debate around the topics it brings to the surface is discussed, on Should I Delete That by Alex Light and Em Clarkson, so well. It’s a really prevalent and necessary conversation for parents of young girls and boys. Perhaps something that our own parents wouldn’t have thought about being in the pre-social media world. Personally I find it terrifying the impact that many ‘influential’ characters have on young minds and the duty of care to protect these young children is becoming huge! It’s definitely a good watch and raising awareness is really important.
WEARING
My favourite spring dress from last year, which is back in stock!
My linen shirts are back and I have been wearing Jacks dark navy RL with white jeans so much this week! It’s giving 90’s chic - I think I will invest in the womens version now.
My trusty cosy jacket for sitting in the garden when it’s a little chilly has come in handy the last few days!
I’m deciding on a birthday dress today for my ‘Rosé in the Garden’ afternoon and this is top of my list! If the weather was going to be warmer it would definitely be this, I think I need to get it for summer anyway.
EATING
I’ve made dauphinoise potatoes for two celebrations lately, they are the ultimate hosting side dish. Easy, simple and you can prepare them in advance.
My love affair for roasted sweet potato has rekindled. I’m eating it for lunch in bowls with salad, veggies topped with feta and seeds - so delicious.
Toasted crumpets…I forgot how much I love them for breakfast with salted butter, so good! But not as good as a hot cross bun!
LUSTING
A very me kind of jug, to display flower arrangements but also serve water when I host in the summer.
Cutlery can be chic! This bamboo set is perfect for spring lunching alfresco.
I’m starting to creep in some cute Easter decor and planning my tablescapes for the long weekend. How beautiful are these rattan bunnies!
I’m obsessed with these open work Mary-Janes, so cute with denim.
I wish I could purchase everything from Aerin, but this book is filling a void!
Thank you for subscribing to Seasons! There won’t be a second entry this week as I will be offline celebrating my birthday. But I will make up for it next week!
Lots of love, L xx
