Weekly Notes
New and Noteworthy from this week... What I am loving, watching, reading, eating and buying.
Good morning lovely reader,
I had an unintentional break from writing recently, I felt as though I needed to gather my thoughts after some really good conversations with industry peers and some changes within the behind the scenes of my business - I needed to regroup.
A couple of weeks ago I sat down at my desk and wrote a draft all about getting out of your comfort zone, I discussed how I was feeling really stuck in a rut, clouded by such a low fog blocking me from pushing forward. I haven’t posted it, because I no longer feel stuck in the space. I made some changes and totally flipped that narrative on it’s head, I pushed myself to do things I would have previously declined, I made decisions and took action on obstacles I have been facing for such a long time now and it feels SO good!
I suppose I have taken control back and not just let things unravel in front of me. Maybe I need to go back to the draft and keep writing?
Anyway, here are the noteworthy moments from this week.
THINGS I’M WATCHING, READING & LISTENING TO
The Stolen Girl on Disney+ is seriously chilling. The narrative is based around a 9 year old girl who goes missing, she is taken by what we first believe is another school mum, but the story unravels and we realise there is a serious web of lies and hidden secrets. With lots of familiar faces including Ambika Mod and Holliday Grainger it’s a really good watch!
A new season of YOU is out on Netflix and I did binge watch it in one evening. Totally hooked, I just love the pace of this series. I wasn’t sure how they could create another storyline but they really delivered, the glass box and the bookstore are back but in a slightly different way…definitely recommend!
One of our Saturday morning rituals is to watch Gardeners World I absolutely love checking in with Monty over at Longmeadow. We learn so much and I find it so inspiring… also who doesn’t love Monty Don!
PURCHASING
With a warm weather spell I decided to get Basil an extra large paddling pool which he has been absolutely loving!
I’ve been introducing some new summer dresses into my collection this one is so perfect for garden parties, anything broderie anglais sign me up and of course a very good everyday shirt dress.
Speaking of summer I am wearing linen shirts on repeat, I recently added this one to my collection.
RANDOM RECOMMENDS
This mascara is honestly the best I have tried - it lifts and spaces out your lashes so perfectly. My new holy grail.
I am a self confessed list making addict - it’s something I just cannot function without doing. If I haven’t written it in my weekly to do list there is a very high chance that I just will not remember it. Recently I have started writing a master to-do list for the following week. Lots of random things that I need to do whether it’s brand work, campaigns, shoots or editing and content schedules but even random life things that I need to remember like paying my accountant or ordering a birthday present. It’s like a big mind dump list which I can then put into each day when the week comes around. I make all my lists in the notes app on my phone which is so easy because it automatically transfers to my laptop too!
EATING & DRINKING
Equinox Raspberry & Elderflower Kombucha is my current go-to afternoon pick me up.
Speaking of drinks, electrolytes are my new obsession, specifically these ones - they are so delicious and have made such a difference to my energy levels throughout the day!
Spring is my absolute favourite time for cooking, trying new recipes, seasonal ingredients and getting a little more creative. One of my favourite things to make in the Spring time is wild garlic pesto - it goes with so many of our staple dishes and it just tastes delicious.
Side dishes are my time to shine, specifically anything potato related. I made some mini herb roasted potatos to go with a wild garlic and mozzarella stuffed chicken breast. They were so delicious and really quick and easy - here is the recipe I made up:
THINGS I’M DOING, LOVING & ENJOYING
It’s been quite a social couple of weeks and my calendar has been filled with very special outings!
I visited Coombe End Manor for a wellness retreat with some of the most incredible women. We had a restful two days from pilates and sound healing meditation to seasonal menus and grounding nature walks. I honestly cannot fault our stay, hosted by the queen of gardening Josie and pilates powerhouse Chloe, every single element was just perfection.
I also attended a vineyard tour with Wine Tours of Kent, we visited Yotes Court and Gusbourne which were absolutely beautiful! One thing about Kent is there are so many breathtaking vineyards, we really are spoilt for choice when it comes to wine and it’s been a good reminder to experience more of what we have right on our doorstep.
We had dinner at one of my favourite Kent restaurants with rooms, Boys Hall. The food is delicious, seasonal and locally sourced. The wine list is extensive with something for everyone and the setting is just beautiful. I cannot recommend it enough if you are local or planning a staycation to the county.
When I am not gallivanting around in vineyards and stately homes most of my spare time is spent in the garden, I am absolutely LOVING seeing all our seedlings start to grow in the raised beds, we have enough lettuce, spinach and rocket to fuel the summer salads for the entire lane and I couldn’t be more excited! Just watching the peas climb the bamboo a little more each day, another leaf on the courgette plant and the leaves growing on the beetroot really is something to be excited about.
Thank you for reading this weeks entry! L x
