Dear reader,
The arrival of unofficial summer this week has me living like I’m on holiday. Slow mornings, time spent outside and abundance of all my favourite things.
The art of romanticising the mundane really comes down to seeing the beauty in the small things. A way of life that has totally transformed how I view the everyday boring.
6am. Starting my day with my favourite smoothie, a walk around the garden and a moment to set intentions and breathe into the day ahead.
7am. Something that makes me feel lifted each day is to actually get ready. A bit of makeup, styling my hair, a good outfit and a spritz of my favourite perfume. It immediately places me into a mode of productivity that I just do not feel if I stay in my loungewear. Sometimes the art of self care on the outside can really impact how we feel internally.
9am. Laptop days will always come with an elevated set up. Whether I light a candle, put on a good playlist and enjoy a warming matcha. Or perhaps if I am working in the evenings or the weekends I sit on the sofa, cosy in blankets, with my favourite movie or a good series in the background. Elevating the admin.
11am. Daily dog walks are the part of the week that allow me to reflect. I walk through the woodland and the fields with no distractions, unplugged from the noise. No podcasts or music. Just simply walking and allowing my mind to wander. It’s when I come up with my best ideas, practice gratitude and step outside of the inner voice.
1pm. Lunch time is a space for nothing. I like to make a delicious lunch and enjoy it in the garden, sometimes reading a book, other times listening to a podcast. A hit of vitamin D whilst I nourish my body from the inside out.
4pm. The mundane routines that make up my week, the food shop, cleaning or laundry, become rituals. I relish in the act of repetitive routine. I put on an outfit that I love that makes me feel good, take myself to the farm shop or the supermarket and get creative choosing ingredients for new recipes and I always pick up a drink for the journey home. A kombucha, matcha, chai latte whatever I am in the mood for.
5pm One of my favourite parts of the day is when I close my laptop. This is the window for me. I read my book in the afternoon sun. Dead head the roses and potter in the garden. Have a long shower and enjoy some self care. The quiet rituals that end the day with a moment to pause and do something for myself.
6pm Summer evenings are my absolute favourites. The weeknights feel like weekends. Dining alfresco. Cooking on the bbq. Fresh produce. Conversations in the garden until dusk. A cold glass of rosé. I love to set the table, use my favourite table linens, placemats and cutlery. Create a new recipe or follow my favourite go-to’s.
8pm The evening turn down is the time to reset and prepare for the next day ahead. I always make sure the kitchen is clean, dishwasher loaded and surfaces wiped down before heading up to bed. If my mind feels particularly buzzy I will write down all the things at the forefront: bullet points, ideas or a to-do list for the following day. But my pm skincare routine is where relaxation comes. Fresh pyjamas, 10 minutes with my LED mask whilst reading a book are the perfect unwind to carry me into sleep.
Whether it’s elevating your work from home days with your favourite outfit and a candle lit, your early morning commute with a delicious matcha to kick start your day or going through the never ending list of chores blasting a good playlist.
It’s the little things we do with intention that provide us with the canvas for curating a life that feels a little more elevated.
With love,
L x
Romanticising the everyday, one season at a time.
Reading this was like a warm hug….
I also write about romanticizing life and those small moments... I just started a few days ago! My latest post is all about my two daily habits that help me relax and appreciate the little things. Would you consider checking it out?

Beautiful read. Soothing. Love a slow meal. Love the idea of a drink on the way back.
