Curating A Spring Capsule Wardrobe
Developing your personal style, seasonal switch overs & streamlining your shopping habits.
Good Morning my lovely reader,
This week I have been working on my wardrobe, being ruthless with a clear out but also switching out some pieces to introduce those lighter layers as the temperature starts to slowly creep up.
I often see a lot of content around capsule wardrobes, which is something I suppose I introduce into my own life in some way. When I was younger I fell into the trap of bringing home huge hauls. New in clothes each season, buying things that I love on the hanger with no real idea of how to style them in my wardrobe, leaning into the trends a bit too much. Subsequently my wardrobe felt like a revolving door constantly evolving and changing with no real constant.
I lost my own style throughout this and found getting dressed a minefield. I felt as though I had to be in a box and define a certain genre to emulate each morning. But this just isn’t what style is about.
A few years ago I made a real change with my shopping habits but also the addiction (for want of a better word) that I had developed with buying new shiny things. The level of dopamine was at an all time high in the moment of purchase, even extending to wearing that thing for the first time. But once that was over it became just another item in the back of my cupboard.
How did I change my mindset?
